How a post gets built

Every article runs through the same four-stage build. No hot takes shipped straight to prod.

01

Capture

Raw playthroughs logged with frame timers, input traces and screenshots — 15–40 hours per title before a word is written.

02

Disassemble

We break systems down to their loops — economy, pacing, feel — and cross-reference patch notes and dev interviews.

03

Draft

A named writer builds the argument, embeds clips, and annotates the moments that made or broke the experience.

04

Ship

Fact-checked, scored on our transparent rubric, and published — with a public changelog if we revise it later.

// modules

What we publish

Six recurring desks. Free to read, with an optional supporter tier for the archive and early builds.

Deep review workstation

The Deep Review

Long-form verdicts that only publish after full completion — 3,000+ words, scored on systems, feel and value. Free forever; supporter tier from £6/month unlocks the full 400-review archive.

Speedrun Forensics

Frame-by-frame breakdowns of world-record routes, with glitch explainers verified against community leaderboards.

Esports Meta Report

Weekly patch-driven tier lists and tournament tactical notes across the major competitive circuits.

Retro cartridges

Retro Archaeology

Digging up cancelled builds, lost ROMs and the history behind them — one dusty cartridge per fortnight.

Hardware Bench

Controllers, handhelds and displays put through real latency and battery tests — no spec-sheet copy-paste.

Indie developer interview

Dev Dispatch

Interviews with indie studios shipping out of London and beyond, recorded live most Thursdays at our Rivington Street desk.

From the community

"The Deep Review of Elden Ring changed how I replay games — they flagged a build I'd never touched and it turned into 60 more hours. No other blog does this level of homework."

— Marcus T., Hackney · supporter since 2022

Frequently asked

// reading & access

Is the blog free to read?+

Yes — every new article is free and always will be. The optional supporter tier from £6/month unlocks our full back-catalogue of 400+ deep reviews, ad-free reading, and early access to embargoed builds we're allowed to share.

How often do you publish?+

We ship 4–6 pieces a week across all desks, plus the weekly Esports Meta Report every Monday. Deep Reviews land only when a game is fully finished, so their cadence varies — quality over calendar.

// editorial

Do you accept review copies or sponsorship?+

We accept review copies but never guarantee coverage or a score in exchange. Sponsored slots are clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial. No publisher has ever seen a review before it went live, and we say so at the top of every piece.

How does your scoring rubric work?+

Every game is rated across systems, pacing, feel and value, each shown openly rather than blended into one mystery number. If a patch materially changes a game, we revise the review and publish a dated changelog so you can see exactly what moved.

// events

Can I attend a Dev Dispatch recording?+

Most Thursday recordings at our Rivington Street desk have a handful of free community seats. Drop us a note via the contact form and we'll add you to the invite list — supporters get first pick when a session sells out.
